The Woods at Duck Harbor is a 960 acre gated community. The woodland residential community allows homeowners to enjoy the natural amenities and recreational opportunities provided by the diverse offerings of the environment, without giving up the luxuries of modern technology.
- Situated on a 205 acre lake allowing motor boating, fishing, and other summer and winter activities
- Individual properties are 5 acre minimum
- Non lake front lots have access to lake through park areas with docks
- Adjacent to state game lands
- Miles of hiking trails
- Drake, Long and Hickory wetland habitats a vital wildlife wetland within the development)
Noticeably absent from The Woods are clubhouses, tennis courts, and other common amenities. Instead, nature takes center stage: Miles of walking and riding trails are maintained, wetland habitats are restored and maintained, natural park and picnic areas are provided.
The development has been planned to preserve the land. The largest impact of the development is the road system. However, all utility and cable lines are all underground and the roads are all finished with natural stone aggregate to create a unique country atmosphere. The road system itself provides the most used walking trails and brings to mind old rural country lanes.
The Woods backs 10,000 acres of Pennsylvania state game land with a walk in trail maintained on Heights Road. The Woods is situated around the southern end of the 205 acre glacial fed Duck Harbor Pond. The Pennsylvania state and game commission stocks the lake which ensures good fishing in all seasons. The lake is large enough for motor boating activities yet strict wake times allows for favorable fishing at peak hours.
